Hey, is that a bottle of cough syrup your drinking there?
Well I have been neglecting my blog, which usually means I have been riding a good bit. It's almost GOBA time so I have doing some long hard rides to prepare for pulling the quad through the hills. It's kinda funny that my cycling life has been reduced to 'training' for a bike tour, but riding that big bike leaves you pretty fried. I got a new phone with a camera so as soon as I figure out how to download the pics to the computer I will be set. In the meantime, I stole some photos of the Knob from Brad Wilhelms blog.(So sue me).
I particulary like this photo of Whitney, just moments before getting crushed by an old dude on a single speed. That's right you little punk, I saw your time was 5 minutes slower than Lorson's. Just keep eating your celery and carrot sticks. Yes, Whitney is a little arrogant punk, I guess that's why I like him so much. He is a carbon copy of me when I was 18. Except my racing mtb weighed 32 lbs. back then. And yes, it was rigid, and at times it was a single speed.(Can you say, Suntour XC pro?) Man, I do miss that bike. I sold it to Jim Lehman(CTS coach) years ago and I have regretted it ever since.
Working afternoon shift has certainly benefitted my riding time. Sleeping at night is surely a bonus too. I have been riding over to the Knob a couple times a week, doing 2 or 3 laps and then riding home. Yesterday the course was super fast. I figured it would be a great day to see how fast I could do 3 laps and ended up with 1:49:46. I also ended up with a massive headache, dehydration, and a huge saddle sore the size of Texas. You guys can have that 100 mile race crap all to yoursevles.
Ah yes, the famous 'black chrome' color. Check out the rake on that fork! If memory serves me correctly, that wheelbase is 44 inches.
